Dual Soundcards

I've got an asus A7N8X deluxe mb and use the on board sound. I've found though that there are certain applications (yahoo messenger) where I want to record some output but the system doesn't allow me to do so (like in voice chat, i want to record the chats). Some people have recommended adding a 2nd sound card.

So say I buy a SB live value card, or other sound card. My speakers are connected to the on board sound, so how do I connect the SB live to my on board sound card? Is it possible using the cables/connectors that you connect cards to cdroms? or SPDIF connectors?

My guess is connect the line out of your current sound (the motherboard) to the line in on the soundcard.

install the 2nd soundcard, and set the default recording device (on ctrl panel > sounds and multimedia > audio) to the 2nd card, in this case.. a SBlive.

then go to yahoo messenger seting and set the default mic input with the SBlive, and plug your mic to the sblive.
