Dual soundcards in Linux Mandrake 8.1

I have both the CMI onboard soundcard (p6bap-a+ mobo) and Audio PCI64v (ess soundchip) ready and running in Linux Mandrake 8.1. In any similar configuration one of the two devices is declared "default soundcard". So I am looking for some info on how to change this setting. Anyone?

Why don't you just disable the on-board in the Bios?

...beacause the onboard card is better than the other one! I just keep the other soundcard for a mixing program i use in windows

load the module for the one you want to use, and dont load the module for the one you dont want to use.

I have stated earlier that i want BOTH cards operational and use the one I want as a default. Oh well, I'll just get back to plain old Unix :/
