Hello,

Can I get a motherboard like the new intel skulltrail and use a standard E6850 or do I have to get a special chip that supports more than one processor? I know in the past you typically had to buy xeon chips to have more than one CPU on the motherboard but I don't know if that is still the case.

The QX9650 is about 4 times the price of the ex6850 so I was wondering if I could potentially buy a motherboard with more than one socket on board instead.

http://www.engadget.com/2007/1...ng-platform-skulltrail - the article mentions xeon but isn't very detailed so I don't want to assume anything either way as I'm not very caught up on skulltrail - googling doesn't give a lot of detail.

Dual processor platform (including Skulltrail) requires Socket 771 (so you can't use E6850).

Why do you pay more than $1000 for a quad core 3.00GHz? Buy Q6600 or Q9300 ($266) and overclock it to 3.0GHz.
