Dual Socket Motherboard Problems

Ive been really looking at building a new computer, i have a ton of computers networked in my house by switches. But I would rather have a server. The server wouldnt be anything special, just something that would hold all the files that everyone would want to share. I was looking at getting a Dual P4/Celeron motherboard til I realized I couldnt find one. All i can find is dual pentium 3, dual xeon, and dual amd mp. all those sockets are different that the 478 and I was wondering do they even make a dual 478 motherboard? If not, what do you suggest I should get for a motherboard/2 Processors for less than 650.00

Justdeals has the asus CUV4X-DLS dual socket 370 board refurbished for around $45. Starmicro has the socket 370 p3 800 coppermine for only $17. The heatsinks will cost you about $8-10 each, so you may be able get them all for less than $100. The owner's manual is available online by doing a search on yahoo. I couldn't find any info on asus' website. The other $650 option is a dual opteron setup. Monarchcomputer has the opteron 142 bare cpu for around $160 each, so 2 will set you back about $320. They also have a tyan 2875 dual opteron board for about $230. You'll still need 2 heatsinks and some ecc pc3200 memory, so you'll be lucky to get it all for $650.

Opteron 1xx are single processor only. You need Opteron 2xx or 8xx to run duals. Fortunately, the 2xx chips have come way down in price, lately.
