As far as I've seen, there are no dual socket 775 motherboards.

Are there any coming, or is it simply not possible with today's chipsets?

I don't want to pay the extra for the Xeon line, or the Skulltrail setup. And I certainly don't want to be forced into ECC ram.

I'd like to build a system with 2 775 chips. I read where some motherboards actually combined two chipsets to create a dual socket, quad-PCIe 16x, 8 DIMM slot setup. Any manufacturers working on something similar?

Thanks

If you want multiple sockets, you need to go to Socket 771 (aka Socket J), or one of the other sockets for multiprocessor systems (such as Socket 604 for older Xeons or Socket F for Opterons). Otherwise, wait for desktop chips with more cores.
