OK, I don't know much about the motherboard here, but this looks really hot. Compgeeks is offering a barebones setup with the following for $93.50:

* Supports Celeron CPU 300-800MHz / P-III 500-1000MHz

* 6-Bay Mid-Tower ATX Case with 300W Power Supply
* 56x UDMA/33 IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM Drive
* 64MB 4x AGP Video Card with TV-Out (S-Video)

All items are NEW with a 1-Year Warranty!

I don't really need to build another, but this looks really HOT.

Note: you need a special savings code to get the $93.50 price. Can I post that here? Well, let's just say that the "Product Number" on the page is quite helpful... 😉

Good luck all!

😀

Hmmm, Could this be the new server for my wifes office??? Nice deal but PIII's are frigging expensive still... The case keyboard and mouse look a bit cheesy but I guess for the money it's not bad....

Thanks, I have one in my cart... I will ponder it, for a bit...

The market is being flooded with these Acorp dual boards. They do have some FSB adjustments for overclocking.

Well, you could always run on a single Celeron until the great deal on PIII's comes along.

Looks like you could get one for around $44, according to Pricewatch.

You can not have dual celerons in the system, but you can run one. All P3 FCPGA's should work.

That kinda sucks considering how expensive P3's are.

:Q wow, really tempting.

I have two celeron 300A that overclocked to 450 sitting around in my closet. Maybe I'll get two of these barebones kits....

this deal is SO ironic for me. thanks for posting! really want to get rid of this crut ms-6366 (i bought this whole system for $150 because it had ddr slots -- looks like the ame case -- but now bah)
will have to read some reviews so i don't make the same mistake twice, but if this can run a gig cel (i think only the p3 cel are named in the description because that's what's known), i'm in business
thanks for the post, pretty sure the card is kyro 4000xt, have an agp and pci in 32mb flavors already, but it's still a good card
where are some other cels for $44? tia!

I thought the 300a was only available for slot 1?

unclebud,

Glad that it was of interest to you!

I've been pretty much an AMD-builder, so I don't know that much about the Intel line, but Newegg.com has this:

*Intel Boxed Celeron 850MHz 128k FCPGA OEM*

...shipped for $45 right now.

Now, the board description says "Celeron 300 to 800 MHz......and higher" ....whatever that means.

I haven't ordered yet. I really don't need another machine. Dang, this is hard.....

😕

again these mobo do not SMP celerons.. even the old ones that actually did do SMP..
I got one of these barebones.. w/o mobo a while back... case is flimsy and keyboard and mouse are cheap also... But they all work and still do...

another reaon why i said this was ironic is i BET that keyboard and mouse are memorex. mine that came with the system i have look JUST like them. and my case (that's a genica i THINK) looks JUST like the one in the pic! alright case, but those two bottom 5.25 will NOT hold cdrw/cdrom. it says it's the motherboard, but i have a msi 6366 and even using the ddr slots it's not enough room for more than one burner in the case (which was a serious bummer when i bought it)... but that's if this is the same case... whoa deja vu
great deal for those who also got in on the 40g maxtor deal!

Word has just begun to surface on 2cpu.com's boards that these thing will run at least 1 Tualitan CPU... If It can do to... this could be hot.... I ought 2 of the non RAID boards and 1 RAID.... Gonna try the Dual Tually....
