Dual Screen Options

I have a question that I can't seem to figure out. I've got an 7800GTX and got a second montior to plug into the second DVI port on the card. However, the only way to get the "dual monitor" setup to work is to use the NVidia tool, which gives you considerably less control than other dual head setups I've used in the past. Windows doesn't see the second monitor in the display properties!

What I really would like to do is use the primary LCD in a standard setup because I'll probably be buying a wide-screen LCD, and use the second LCD one in a "pivoted" view so it is situated vertically. Without the displays being separate to windows, I don't think I'll be able to use it in this configuration. As far as I could tell, there isn't a way to do this with the nVidia software at all.

I was curious if anyone had any insight to this issue. I'm guessing I'll need to get a secondary PCI video card to do this, right?

I use dual setup with the NView tools and Windows recognises is in display properties - it also gives the options to rotate either display and put them in any configuration you can think of.

Two GPUs = 4 simultaneous displays but no more controls for any particular one

Can you show some screens of how ur using the Nview tools?

I can post screenshots, but primarilly when I enable the dual displays, and I go to Control Panel > Display> Settings - it only shows one monitor. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. The nView tools seem to be wanting me to use the two screens as a single monitor. Applications, when maximized, span both displays. The taskbar spans the entire screen. Dialog boxes appear cut in half on each screen. And when I attempt to rotate, it wants to rotate both screens as if they were one big monitor, not just one screen.

Since it's working for you, I'm obviously doing something wrong. How did you set yours up?

You are doing something wrong.

Pic to illustrate
You have "Span" mode, you WANT DualView mode.
Go to nView (Desktop Management) -> Display Wizard -> Custom Setup, go through and select Dual View.
