Dual Raptor Raid 0 on Asus 865 or 875?

I'm deciding between the Asus 865 and 875, and I'm considering splurging for the dual Raptor Raid 0 setup. It is my understanding that both mobos have raid support included. So my question is this: is the raid card on either one good enough for 2 HD raid 0 (limited CPU recourse)? I think I heard the 865 was better because it had the intel controller or something, as opposed to the promise, I think.

Any recommendations?

So they both definitly work, but is either board at all preferable? I heard that 2 HD raid has very little if any effect on the processor, so buying a seperate controller isn't necessary, anyone confirm this?

BTW, what kind of price drops could be expected for the raptors? I can wait up to two months....

Edit: Hey Gnomecop, I see you got the dual raptors. How is it?😀

The Raid on the ASUS 865PE is better, it uses the southbridge to get the Raid off the PCI bus. Both the P4P800 and the P4P800 Deluxe have this feature.

Better and cheaper, sweet.🙂

Whats the difference between deluxe and non-deluxe?

Thanks for the help guys.🙂

I only have about 4% CPU usage on a 32kb stripe. Rig in Sig.

Also Start read = 130Mb/s and end read = 85Mb/s for my drives

dual raptor raid 0 setup does not require an extra controller card, using the 875/865 onboard sata bus is better because you wont be held back by the pci bus.
access times increase a bit, but no way you'll notice, the read and write speeds are what will grab your attention.
I am using an 845PE board and I am very satisfied, so you should definitely be happy with a 865/875 board sata
