dual radiators

hello everyone. im a w/c newbie and i was thinking of setting up dual radiators with an mcr220 on the back of my base and an mcr320 on the side and i was wondering what sort of complications arise from a dual radiator setup and in what order i should set them up for maximum cooling efficiency. for instance, is it better to set them up in different places in the loop, or together. also, which one should be in the loop first? the 320 or the 220. would having dual radiators put too much stress on the pump?

the parts i will be using:
cpu: dtek fusion
gpu: swiftech mcw60
pump: ddc3.2 w/ petra top

The order is not important. Just organize it to use the minimum amount of tubing. My order is pump>mcr220>mcr330>cpu>GPU>res.

QFT! The water temp barely rises as its going in compared to when it's coming out (couple degrees at the most!), therefore where you do the cooling is unimportant. Reducing the tubing length reduces the restriction on the system and your pump will be less stressed and produce a higher flowrate.

that pump can handle ~15-20ft of tubing, and your blocks are very low restriction, you should be fine.

 
I have dual pumps and T-lines instead of a res. T> pump> 220> cpu> T> pump> 120> gpu. I like the T over a res because it takes no space. With 2 it helps to bleed and also to drain.
 
Your pump is powerful enough, no problem at all. And as far as loop order, as has been said go the route that is the shortest, as long as you put the res or T line before the pump the rest doesn't matter much.

However, having a rad b4 the GPU would in essense refresh the water, and give you slightly better GPU temps.

So i would have to go with tylers recomendation.

having to put the other rad b4 the GPU would make for a tube routing nightmare so the only way it would be worth it would be if i would see a very large temp drop....🙁
 
jeff, routing your hoses will be easier w/ Primoflex 3/8" ID 1/16 wall tubing. I use this with 1/2" high flow barbs. It stretches over as it is very elastic ans I use zip ties for clamps. It will make a very tight radius and is not bulky, If I need to make a bend that is to tight I'll use 1/2" brass fittings called PEX connectors, they are used today in homes instead of copper and can be bought locally at lowes or home depot. 1/2" high flow barbs are 3/8" ID so using this smaller tubing does not affect your system temps enough to worry although I do minimize the use of elbows in the loop as abrupt corners do restrict the flow. This tubing is very soft and can collapse if you have a sharp radius in front of the pump. Putting the T line here helps alleviate this prob.

I don't know why you say that... been shown over at XS that the loop order doesn't matter and does not affect temps noticeably. Yeah logically in the mind it would seem to make sense but the testing done has shown otherwise. Shorter, cleaner tubing route > loop order (aside from the res before the pump thing).

loop order as in terms of parts spread out doesnt affect temps.

When your doing order for dual rads, and using 2 different blocks, it does matter. Sparky ive ran a dual radiator/dual pump system.

When your cores are loaded, your GPU will take a hit of about 3-5C on idle. By having a second rad up front of the gpu, it would shave off maybe around 3-8C on the gpu depending on conditions.

Having rad + Rad -> CPU wont see much of a difference from Rad -> Cpu -> Rad -> Pump.

But Rad -> Cpu -> Rad -> Gpu You'll see a difference on the GPU side.
