Hi Guys,

I'm building a new core2duo system(which will be OCed) with radeon x850xt and i feel my current PSU (400W L&C) may be indadiquate, so i was looking around and I found this product

Ultra Dual PSU 24-Pin Adapter Cable

Seems to be right product for me as I don't have any issues putting in 2 PSU in my case and I have a spare PSU with me...and also I have a tight budget, so I have to wait sometime if I'm getting a new powerful PSU..

So what do you guys think or has someone had any experience with it, will it work as its written ?

One more thing, is this Ultra Brand reliable ?

I suppose a passive device from Ultra should be OK but why would anyone who would trust their system to an L&C PSU really care??? IAC, that adapter makes the limited vision of Ultra obvious (unless they are making the device I'm thinking of as a separate product). Look at all the wasted contact locations on the secondary PSU connector! There should be a half dozen pigtails off of that connector with connectors on the other end for many functions...

Now Now...i know L&C isn't the best of PSUs by u'r standards...but its the best we got available in my country, apart from Antecs which are horribly overpriced...
hmmm..the reason for wasted contact locations on secondry PSU, i think is, it is only required to notify the second PSU when system is turned on, which requires only 2 wires....
Basically i wanted to ask, has anybody here running dual PSU setup, is it trouble free setup (apart from noise issues from 2 psu and space inside cabby)..

My sympathies - not only is L&C not the best, it is a bottom feeder. But I suppose if you don't stress it too much it should be barely acceptable. L&C was by far the most common bad PSU when I worked in a PC service dept. of a franchise store - you remember those Amp sucking Athlons, well the consumers would try to use L&Cs on them. No Way!
. You don't even need that fancy adapter cable. A DPST momentary (normally open) switch would do just as well. Connect one pole to the mobo's pwr pins and the other directly to the green and a black on the secondary PSU. You won't have automatic shutdown, but you'll only have to hold the switch down for 5 seconds after the first one has gone off to shut off the secondary PSU. Or you could just use a second SPST (normally open) for the secondary PSU to start it up and shut it down.
