Dual processors with PIII 550e SL3R3?

I have two PIII 550e, both are SL3R3 and wanted to put them into a dual CPU motherboard. However, I somewhere read that the stepping can make a difference. So I found they are ca2's and that they "are will not be validated in dual processor applications". Does this mean that they do not work at all in Dual processor boards or is there something which can be done (like the slotket trick with the celerons).

Any help would be appreciated
