I have two NIC cards. One wired the other wireless. They are both establishing a connection to my router. I use the wired one to establish a PPPoE connection to the Internet. Works great. I use the wireless one to manage my network mostly. If disconnect the wired one I can also establish a PPPoE connection using the wireless one.

Here's my question if I leave my wired one for a connection to PPPoE. And try to use my wireless one to establish another PPPoE connection to the Internet (using different username and password if course) will it work? My problem is I do not know how to specify that the PPPoE request goes through which connection. Because when I try to connect using a 2nd PPPoE, it assumes that it is trying to do it using the wired one for some reason and ends up saying that this connection is already in use by another PPPoE dial up.

Any idea's?

When using a Router it is not a good idea to use the PPPOE software.

If you have two legal DSL feeds you should use a Dual WAN Router.

If you have a Router, you should configure the Router to keep the DSL Alive and uninstall the software (http://www.ezlan.net/PPPOE.html ).

If your provider pumps into your DSLAM one service, two would not be initiated.

DSL unlike Cable Internet it provided to individual Lines.

Forgive my ignorance but I have no idea what u just said.

Is the reason I can not get a second PPPoE line is because the modem does not accept more than two. Or is it because my physical phone line does not accpet more than two, or because my computer does not accpet more than two?

thank you for your patience.

I already know I can setup my router to keep my PPPoE connection on. I do not want to do that.

The modem connected/built in the router should automatically create the PPPoE connection rather than the computer trying to connect to the internet. There should be a setting in the modem/router to do this and to make sure the connection doesnt die.

You can only have 1 PPPoE connection per DSL Line
