Ok bare with me here as I am new to building pc's. Here is my question... If I was to buy a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherbaord would I be able to run dual pci-e gfx's cards? I thought I read somewhere that you could and you would get double the fps. I was thinking of 2 Geforce 6600's. Also, I have never owned or used an AMD cpu but I am leaning on going that way with my next build. Maybe a FX-53. Anything I need to look for when building this AMD system?
Below are the specs on my current system, less than 2 months old, if anyone is interested in it drop me a line.

do you need a BRAND NEW system if you other system is only 2 months old . . .

if youre just upgrading, then i would say mobo and gfx

if you're building a new one, SLI THEORETICALLY doubles FPS, but real life is not like that

if you're doing 2x6600GTs from the start, dont . . . get 1x6800GT, its still faster

While AMD A64's are faster in games, the 1600 vs 800 fsb is basically just marketspeak. Technically, A64's don't have an FSB.

They are faster in games because they are faster chips. You are not likely to notice any difference between the top end chips from either camp anyway, unless you are into benchmarks.

A new video card would really help out your current system anyway. That 5950U is looking old these days. :D

Drop a 6800GT in there and marvel at the difference.

Yes. SLI boards can run dual PCI-E cards and ATI will also be able to do so soon.

Only the 6800 series and the 6600GT will do SLI for NV.

AMD A64 is a little faster than intel systems, but as it has already been stated it's your videocard that holds you back. A 6800GT will make you a very happy gamer.

Well, its not like I have any problems with this video card playing any games .. (maybe some issues with MOH-PA . but no one plays it anyways) I have this OC'd enuff that it really flies. Im not saying it is better than a 6800...

And the 6800Gt is the card to get? not the 6800 Ultra?

The 6800Ultra is faster. The 6800GT is cheaper and not much slower. It has the same pipes and shaders, just lower clock and mem speeds.

My recommendation would be to get one card now, and if you like it, get another one later on when they get cheaper... I'd do the same thing, except I need my system now, or in the next couple of months, and there won't be any major price drops soon... Your best bet is probably the 6800GT, due to its high overclockability (I've seen as high as 440mhz, a 70-90mhz difference) ATI's "Multi-Rendering" won't be in until late this year, at the earliest, and whether current PCI-E cards from ATI will be compatible with Multi-Rendering in about a year is still a mystery as far as I know... Your processor choice is alright, it can definitly be OCed to FX-55 specs. Depending on which game you're using (DX9 vs OpenGL) your videocard performance will vary from a 38% increase to an 89% increase... NVidia favors OpenGL whereas ATI favors DX9.
