I wanna upgrade my system. I would like to get a dual AMD system but I don't want to pay alot for the motherboard. Here is what I was thinging about

dual P3

Iwill DVD-266-R
2 x P3 833
512 mb PC2100

single t-bird

EPoX EP-8K7A+
AMD 1.2 ghz
512 MB PC2100

I host a FTP server, do video editing, RC5, and a gamer. Which of the above setups would give me the most bang for the buck. Or should I hold off and wait for a cheaper dual AMD mobo??

Thanks for the help,

I don't think that you could use the power of the dual PIII's. I think the AMD setup you have listed will be the best for you (except for rc5, which is dependent mostly on raw processing power). Most programs can't use the power of dual setups and isn't really worth it IMO.

It seems that for most (note: not all) users get dual setups more for bragging rights or just because they're neat. Most can't fully use the potential power of dual systems.

I do a lot of graphics and plan on getting into gaming. Your needs are similiar to mine. I'm holding off personally, waiting for the cheap mobos. Then i'll consider doing dual Duron's overclocked, or Dual Athlon 4s.

I wasn't that impressed with dual PIII benches, I think the 760MXP's will be wonderful... i'm really excited!

The video editing is extremely intensive, i think the dual cpus will definitely come in handy... every consider Mac G4?

how do you know he doesn't do much editing? Curious since he didn't seem to specify to what extent he did any of his listed tasks.
