Dual optical pickup on set-top dvd players-better picture?

Some set top dvd players are advertising that their players have dual optical pickup for better audio & video clarity..etc. Has anybody seens this 1st hand? Do they really offer a better picture & sound vs the standard player? I thought they were for compatability with cdrs & cdrws.

If a player can read all the data from a disc, it's up to the video encoders to do the rest.
Better quality from dual pickups is total BS, unless it makes the disc layer change go more smoothly.

No, the players have them so they can read DVD as well as CDRW and CDR. Players with only one laser have a hard time with CDR (CDRW isn't as bad because it ressembles DVDs more). They only use one laser at a time, unless it's something new I don't know about...
