I have a Tyan Thunder K8SD Pro with a Antec Titan 550 case. Does anyone have any suggestions for the dual Opterons as far as a quiet cooling solution. They are OEM's.
Thanks
I don't know how far you want to go cooling, but I am sure you can grab a watercooling setup that will help you with your needs.
If you want to go very extreme with cooling, then I'd suggest nabbing the vapochill case cooler, which will cool all the components in your case, including both CPUs, probably all to below 0, sometiems as low as -40 temperatures. This also allows you to overclock as much as possible, though I have not heard anyone talking about overclocking an opteron yet, though..
Thanks! After reading that article, I wish I had gotten retail instead of OEM. It appears the Retail sink works very well. I see similar heatsinks to the retail for approx 35 dollars.
It is going to be a server so I want stability more than overclocking. Thanks for the vapochill suggestion though!
The stock coolers that came with my Xeons were awesome. Unfortunately, they did not fit on my mobo, so I used the stock heatsinks that came with my motherboard for a long time... Then I got the Zalman 603 coolers. They work well enough. 🙂
