Dual Monitors

I have my normal PC and had the inkling to see if I could use my laptop as a dual monitor. I have my LCD for my PC using DVI and I just hooked up the laptop using the normal VGA connector to the back of that.

Is this possible or am I just running in a circle here?
 
Well I downloaded Maxvista and that is working just fine except obviously its a demo and it runs off the network. I would prefer that it let me use the video cord for that. Any ideas guys? The network one is just a tad slow.
