Dual Monitors

I have an ATI Radeon 9200 in my XP box. I had it plugged in to my TV for a while, which worked great (DVI cable to an HDTV). Well, I decided to plug in my computer monitor, so that I could mess with it while my wife watched TV. Again, everything worked fine. I had my desktop on each screen, so they always looked exactly alike.

Then, just playing around, I checked the box in the video settings for "Extend desktop across this monitor". Apparently that was a big mistake. It works, but that's not what I want. I want to go back to having two separate monitors. However, Windows won't let me uncheck that box anymore. I've tried every combination I could think of in the Windows Display settings (two checkboxes, one for "Extend" and one for "Make primary"), to no avail.

Could anyone help me out? I even tried unplugging the TV, rebooting, plugging the TV back in, and rebooting again, and still no good.

Thanks in advance.

in the display properties settings (where you change resolution ...etc.) click advanced. Click the display tab. There you should see the pictures of the two monitors. click the little blue button that resembles 2 displays.
