Dual Monitors With Radeon 8500?

I've been running dual monitors with an 8500 & a generic PCI vid card, just scrounged up a pair of LCD's one with DVI.

Is there any way to use the 8500 on both? I hooked them up & just got duplicated displays, couldn't extend the desktop to the 2nd monitor & use it independently of the other.
 
After hooking up both monitors, go into your Display Properties "Settings" tab, click on the monitor on the right, and click on the box marked "Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor".
 
I had the same problem with my 7500 running a crt and tv monitor. I will watch this post to see what I was doing wrong!!! BTW, I have tried doing dual monitors/video cards with no luck. What is the specific 'generic' PCI card you were using with your 8500?

3D Rage Pro PCI

I had to go into the bios when I first set it up (pre DVI monitor) & set it to boot "PCI" instead of AGP, then 2000 & XP took over & started the AGP vid card.
