Dual Monitors with Dual Video cards

Hello,
I am new to this forum. I am building a computer and have decided to use dual monitors as I have a pair of matching 19 inch LCDs. I heard in the past that the best way to do dual monitors is to use two monitors that are identical and two identical video cards.

Is this still true? If not are there any video cards out there that are 256 mb or more that have dual DVI outputs on them?
