damn oh well. i guess i'll have to live with one monitor then.
You could do like me, get yourself an inexpensive PCI Videao card and hook up your secondary monitor to that. The extra real estate is well worth it.
could you provide more information on how you did that. because i have extra monitors and would like to use them. i currently have an ATI All In Wonder Radeon AGP.
Simple really.
First you must get your hands on a PCI vid card, you install it in a free PCI slot. Attach your extra monitor to it. Boot your machine, New Hardware Detected Wizard will take you through the driver intallation for both card and monitor. I don't remember if Windows XP Pro automatically initialises the desktop to your secondary monitor or if you have to right click on desktop and in Display Properties/Settings click on the little monitor #2 to highlight it and then go down and tick off the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor." Voilla, extra desktop real estate. Just open an app and drag the app to your secondary monitor or you can extend it accross both monitors. Go
here for more detailed installation and troubleshooting guide.
If you have more than two monitors available, you are only limited to how many vacant PCI slots in your machine to how many monitors you can install. Just repeat the steps above to intall the third monitor and so on. I think windows can support up to 16 monitors on one machine ! But be warned, you MUST obtain latest drivers from the internet for all video cards, AGP and PCI if you want your multimonitor system to renain stable!
For a great little App. go
Here to obtain UltraMon. It greatly increases the multimonitor experience and works great with Windows XP.
For more info on multimonitors you can go
Here.
You can also get Virtual Desktop Manager from
Here to manage up to four desktops from the Windows taskbar.
Have fun.
Hey Mr, Moderator, maybe this could be in the FAQs? Could be useful.
