Dual Monitors and ICQ problem

I have just setup a dual monitor rig on my desk yesterday.
There are a few kinks here and there but overall, this is very neat.

I'm using a 19" monitor with a TNT2 AGP video card and the a 15" monitor with an old ATI 2 meg video card.

The problem is with ICQ (using version ICQ2000b, the 2nd latest cuz a newer build just released today), it will only associate itself with the primary monitor.

I would want it to be used on the secondary display monitor/screen.
When trying to drag the program out to the other screen, it will just dock itself. Despite trying to move it half way and try to drag it from the other screen, it will just pop back into the main screen, much like an ad banner.

Any ideas and suggestions?
Such as disabling auto-docking?

I'd really like to know this as well. I don't think I ever asked here on the forums, but I seem to remember someone mentioning that it was not possible to get ICQ onto the second monitor :(

They might be wrong of course...so if anyone knows, I too would be grateful. Thanks! :)

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

:)

Remember that Direct X, specialized windows, multimedia/video (TV capture, etc.), 3D and all other goodies are limited to the primary display. This is not a limitation of the programs themselves, just a limitation of the multiple-display capabilites inherent to *native* Windows.

The only alternative that I am aware of is Matrox's DH, which tricks Windows into seeing only one adapter and, technically, one monitor. Everything else is handled in Matrox's software and drivers.

I have the same problem with ICQ in win98 and dual monitors (G400)

I dont think there is a way out of it.

I was running win2k for a while and the desktop stretches across to the second monitor as if it was just one really long desktop so I think the icq would be okay in win2k, but not win98. I forgot now, I went back to win98 months ago.

Same problem here, on Win2k, too - it's not a bug it's a feature, at least for most people. Haven't found any way around it, either.

Orangeman, what you say about DirectX and special apps is partly true. As many dual monitor systems have only one modern card (primary) and a cheap old secondary, they can't run modern games on the 2nd monitor. However, if you have 2 good cards, this ought to be possible, unless the game does something (like ICQ) to prevent it.
Anyway , it doesn't really apply to ICQ. ICQ would work fine on the 2nd display, but if you move it onto the 2nd display, it thinks you want to dock at the edge of monitor one. Feature.
