Dual Monitor ????

Hello Guys... I am having a problem with my dual monitors...

I have an AGP (primary) and a PCI (secondary) card. Everytime I install the PCI card, it tries to use the same monitor that the AGP card is using. So when I go to Settings in Display Properties to change that, my PC locks up... I have tried almost everything, from unistalling both cards and monitors from searching the registry for a key to change this.

Does anybody have had this problem before? And if not, does anybody know how I can solve this one?

Thanks,

BrazilianBoy

What OS are you using?
You might want to try going into your BIOS and setting the 'Boot to: AGP/PCI first' to whatever it isn't set to now.

I am using Win98B. My mobo is kt7a-raid with Anihilator GeForce 2 GTS (AGP) and a Jaton Video107-PC 3D. I did try to switch back and forth on my BIOS from AGP to PCI, and vice-versa, as the boot card. No results so far. Everytime I touch the damn Setting Tab in the Display Properties applet, the PC hangs! ;-(

But even if this solution works (putting PCI as primary/boot card), I will still have another problem. I really would like to play my games on my GeForce. I heard that Quake 3, UT and other games default to the primary card/monitor. Althought my my Video107-PC it's an OK card, it doesn't get even close to my GeForce little monster.. hehe 🙂

Let me know if you guys know of any other solution...

Thanks,

BrazilianBoy

What chip is on the Jaton? I would imagine that its drivers are not compatible with multiple displays. Win2K lets you pick which display you want as primary, allowing you to override the BIOS if needed.

does that pci videocard require an irq? if it does, try to avoid putting it into slot 1 as that slot shares its irq with AGP slot!

Thanks for the tips guys.... ;-)

To answer SUOrangeman, here it's a description from Jaton's website:
"The Trident Blade3D 9880 PCI integrates the advanced rCADE3D? 3D/2D Accelerator with graphics, video, and digital TV into a single chip solution." So I am guessing it's a Trident 9880.

Now, for Bacillus... Thanks for the tip.. I will try that tonight, when I get home from work (in about 10 minutes actually 🙂))

I'll keep you guys updated... Thanks!!!
