Dual Monitor woes

I found a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 91TXM for $350, used, and brought it home with high hopes for dual monitor use with a 15" Toshiba monitor in WinME. I can't get it to work and it's driving me nuts. I've used dual monitors before but this just isn't working.
I have a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP as my primary card (AGP is primary in BIOS) and am trying to use an ATI Expert98 PCI card for the secondary monitor. Until I get all my components together for a 1.2 GHz T-Bird system, I'm running an overclocked Celeron on an Abit BE6-II mb.

I've tried an old Number Nine card in there to no avail. I've tried pulling everything out but the two video cards. I've downloaded the latest drivers for both cards. I've moved the ATI around to different slots. Nothing works. On occasion, the system will recognize the ATI and start to load the drivers (the green light goes on my secondary monitor) and then the system hangs. Argh.

I've also searched that atrocity called the MS knowlegebase as well as Google and Copernic. I havne't come across any answers yet. I'd love to be able to fix this. Help!

Thanks.

The two cards may not be compatible.. ATI and 3DFX.. I would try a PCI Voodoo or get a different AGP like a Gforce and a S3 VIrge for the second or a dual card like G400.. dual monitor is nice when you get the right combo.

Well, if anything has to go, it would be the ATI. I'm a UT freak (Phydeaux{RoA}, Clan RoA) and can't live without my Voodoo card. So I'd like to find something that plays well with the Voodoo AGP card as the Primary, if possible. Any Voodoo dual-monitor success stories out there?

The MX card doesn't help me - I have a 21" monitor I want to use for my primary monitor. Plus, let's face it, there is no better card for UT (specifically) than the Voodoo 5 5500. Now, I was able to make the ATI card the primary and get into dual monitor display then, but I couldn't change to make the Voodoo card the primary within Windows (as I've read you can do in Win2K). I can get dual monitor support in WinME so far as long as the ATI card is the primary. Grrr.

Ok, I solved my problem by buying an IBM 45 gig HD and installing Win2K as my primary OS. Now, I can make the ATI pci card the primary card in BIOS but make the Voodoo 5 the primary in Win2K. 😉
