Dual Monitor troubles

Ok, I got my dual monitor setup working just fine and then my KVM switch came in. I hooked one of the monitor cables, #2, into the switch. I hooked the 1st KVM port into the second monitor. Now I have no display on the second monitor. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? TIA

ok. full details of what I have. I run a dell gx280 with the optional x300 vid card. I have the cable that comes from the card that splits the connectors off. one cable goes directly to the main monitor, which works fine. the other cable goes to a KVM switch. Slot 1 on the KVM switch goes to the second monitor. Nothing posts on that monitor. Windows recognizes that the monitor is there but nothing comes up on the screen.

i dont think its the video card because it worked fine before I put the KVM in. I'm gonna try a different KVM tomorrow and see if that makes a difference

Make sure you have the correct KVM port selected 😛 sounds stupid, but I've D*mn near demolished a computer out of frustration due to that. Another thing to check are the video cables themselves. You could also try another KVM.

Have you checked your display properies to make sure that the second monitor is enabled or "attached".?
