Dual Monitor Setup

I need a dual monitor setup for purposes of poker. I currently have a AGP GF2. I'm wondering what sort of hardware I'll need to purchase to make this work. I don't really play any games more intensive than D2. Someone please help me determine what will best suit my needs.

Thanks.

well, does your gf2 have an analog & dvi / analog & analog setup? If so, you just need to purchase the 2nd monitor. If it doesn't have those capabilities, then you must purchase a card that does have one of those 2 options. You probably don't need to spend a whole lot of $$, and most cards on todays shelves have the option for a 2nd monitor. I Have a $30 9200SE infront of me on the desk that has analog and dvi, and should be suffice based on your needs.

Welcome to the forums.

AFAIK, certain cards in the GF2 series is not capable of multi-monitor functionality. This includes the GF2 GTS, GF2 Pro, GF2 Ultra. Unfortunately the entire GF3 series is also not capable of multi-monitor display.

The only GF cards that can do multi-monitor are the GF2 MX series w/c include the MX/MX 200/MX 400, the GF4 series (MX and Ti), GF FX series (regular and Ultra), and the GF 6 series.

Just be warned that I could keep up the framerate in 3D games on the primary display when I had dual-display activated under Windows, and that mean when nothing was running on the second screen. I assume it'll be the same under Linux.

I now have a 5200 PCI for the additional heads and feed only one monitor with the AGP card.
