I bought an HP laptop over the summer and I added a video card (Nvidia 8400 GS) It has 128 mbs of onboard memory and 256 of shared memory. I have enough ram for it to run happy and it works fine. I want to buy a second monitor so I can use my laptop's output ports (1 vga, 1 hdmi). However, whenever I hook up a second monitor (the lcd my room-mate has) using the vga port , the resolution goes down dramatically on my laptop. One of my friends is able to run a second monitor and his laptop at native resolution on an nvidia 7900 go. If I were to buy a second monitor, would I be able to run my laptop at native resolution and get close to max on the monitor?
