Dual monitor setup question

Currently running Windows 8, with an ATI 7970 video card.

I have a Dell U2412M which is my main monitor, hooked up DVI to my video card. I have a Samsung T260HD monitor I want to setup as a dual monitor. Would I just hook this monitor up via HDMI to my video card, and then I'm on my way to dual monitor setup? Or do I need to set it up differently

That should work.

I prefer to adjust all the settings under windows, by right-clicking the desktop and selecting screen resolution. That way you can position the virtual monitors to match the physical setup of the monitors (e.g., make sure the left monitor is displaying the left monitor feed, etc.), and adjust the resolutions etc. If the monitors are different heights, you can also move the virtual representations of the monitors up and down to align them how you prefer.

But it should be plug and play.

I think you get a little more fine tuning and control adjusting those parameters from the Catalyst Control Center, but yeah, you pretty much plug it in and turn it on.
