I know there is a software solution that does the same thing as sidecar. I'll try to find it.

The resolution isn't totally exciting, and I've read that the bus can bog down a bit under heavy loads e.g. full motion video, etc. On the other hand, it is probably the cheapest option around.
I've also heard tell of PCMCIA to PCI adapters(not the other way around) that would allow you to connect, in theory, a PCI graphics card to your laptop. http://www.mobl.com/expansion/products/cardbus_expansion/index.html
www.maxivista.com has software that allows virtual multimonitor over network. Performance will be even lousier than the USB option, and you'll need another computer to connect the monitor to; but this is probably the cheapest of the options.

The link to the cables does not open. If I use the cables, it will mirror content on the monitors correct? I wan't to have spanning over the monitors rather than mirroring.
