Dual Monitor Question

I setup a dual monitor on my desktop last night, adding in a 17" CRT from the basment. I have my LCD set to 1680x1050 and the CRT to 1280x1024. My only problem is that on it's own, the CRT looks fine, but as hooked up, it is dark. I've tried playing with the brightness, contrast, and R,G,B sliders, but it didn't help much. I don't think it is, but could my video card (7900GT) be too "weak" to handle both monitors? Could it be that the LCD is plugged in via DVI while the CRT is using analog w/ dvi adapter (video card is dual dvi)?

i doubt its anything with the adapter. have you tried to see what happens when switching the connections? crt where the lcd is plugged in and lcd where the crt is plugged in?

I haven't tried swapping out the plugs. I will give that a shot tonight.
