Dual Monitor mod?

Does anyone know if it would be possible to make a modification to two Planar PV1704 by taking them apart and cutting off the edges where to two monitors meet so that there wouldn't be anything in between them so that one could get the full 2560x1024 with out a gap?

I don't think so. I'm not familiar with that monitor, but I'm guessing they're CRT's .. anyways, the actual tube is bigger than the picture AFAIK and you would still have the tube around the edges. I don't know if taking the case off is a good idea either. Maybe someone else knows more.

I guess you would have a problem with interference between the two monitors. This might be overcome if you user some shielding between the monitors. There is some expensive stuff out there for that purpose

The larger Samsung 2x0T series can supposedly show two video sources side-by-side. No one seems to talk about it much in the reviews. Modding the LCDs would be hella cool, but is a rather expensive experiment at this point.
