Dual Monitor Issue

We have a guy here at work that has a workstation with a video card that has dual DVI outputs. He was using a single large Apple flat panel monitor, but at the end of last week decided he wanted to have dual monitors. The boss didn't want to spring for a new flat panel right now so we brought a CRT for him to use for now.

The Apple flat panel is connected via DVI cable and then CRT was connected with VGA cable that has a VGA->DVI adapter on the end. When the everything was connected last Friday everything was working fine, but this morning he sent us a screen shot showing a video problem. The left half of the flat panel displays normally, but the right half is just horizontal lines. This problem goes away as soon as the CRT is disconnected.

A reboot didn't fix it. The video cables are plugged securely. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

[edit] I can be more specific about the video card if necessary, I just don't know the model off the top of my head.

My guess is a lack of bandwidth on the video card (RAMDACs/TMDS). What model of video card? If you set both monitors to their lowest resolution and refresh rate do they work properly?

I ran a CRT and LCD for years without any issues, even using a lowly MX400 video card. Uninstall video drivers with Drive Cleaner Pro in Safe-mode then reinstall to see if problems are corrected.
