Dual monitor issue

I have a 6800GT running a CRT and a LCD. I have the CRT setup as my main monitor and both running at 1280x1024. When I play games online I run the CRT at 1024x768 and the LCD switches to that resolution also. I don't want that to happen because I want to have plenty of windows open in the LCD so I can monitor some things as I play.

Is there a way I can stop the LCD from switching resolution when I play my games online?
