Dual monitor in Win2K question

I have tried a dual monitor thing with a Voodoo 2 8mb PCI and it worked, but the quality was pretty pathetic.

Will be buying a new card for this purpose, please drop your suggestions

what happens when I play DVDs or games? I dont suppose it can be seen on both screens ?

Thanks

I have a voodoo3 3000 PCI for the 2nd card.. the quality is great! For most games it will just play on one screen.. other games you will have to disable one screen... And some games are designed for multi-monitors (very few). For DVD, you are stuck with displaying that on one screen...

Good luck!

oh...
Voodoo 2 have not 2d core.. Voodoo 2 is only working 3D game...
if you want more qulity 2nd display, s3 or ati..

can you suggest some cheap solutions, all I want is a good 2d card, capable of 1200X1024@85

I have a 19" Trinitron and a 17" Trinitron both flat displays 🙂

Voodoo 3 16mb are for 90 + shipping, that is steep for me for now

I saw the other day in best buy that voodoo3 3k has $30 rebate and after the rebate was around $69 or so, voodoo3 2k is even cheaper. I have voodoo 3k pci, and it works great. Most game will only play on your primary monitor, Diablo 2 can play on either one depend on which mode you select during video test. So basically you can only use one monitor when you play game. Some game like might & magic I was playing a while ago can be viewed in a window. So you can play the game and do other stuff at the same time. You can also only view DVD or TV (I got a TV card) on the primary monitor, but you can always use the second monitor for other stuff at the same time. If you don't use the full screen mode, you can still use the primary monitor as well.

voodoo3 2000 pcis are $50 in the forsale/trade used forum. I am running dual, with a v44500 and a 2mb matrox and i couldn't be happier.

In W2K can a secondary card output video to a TV to playback movies (DVD and others) while the PC monitor is used as normal?

how do u setup the dual monitor function under Win2k with two different video card installed? i know one has to be either AGP or PCI and the other one is PCI only. because i have a spare 17in monitor sitting around that i would like to take advantage of.

Just install two vid cards.. the combo doens't matter.. 1 agp 1 pci or 2 pci.. Plug it in and boot up.. win2k will find the card and away you go. I have heard rumors about some cards not being able to function as a secondary adapter, but I haven't found any links on Microsoft that give a list.. I do have a friend that works there (I am sure many of us have) and he says they use the 3dfx (primarily the voodoo3's) and they work wonderfully.. That's what I use and for the work that I do.. I love the setup..

Ok just tried the TV Tuner
My TV Tuner doesnt go full screen, but kind of half and half.

On the primary display, you can see the 3/4 of the screen in fullscreen mode( no borders )
on the second screen you can see the 1/4 of the border windows, with black in side
and the moment I click anywhere on the 2nd screen, the other fullscreen goes back to windowed mode.

I wan using the win2k drivers for Hauppauge Win TV - Theatre, WinTV 2000

it works fine in windowed mode on both monitors.
#1 - 19" - 1600X1200@85 - Viper 770 Ultra
#2 - 17" - 800X600@75 - Voodoo 2 100

If If I cant see full screen TV on one monitor, I dont think its worth working on dual monitors.

Thanks all

PS Want to talk to Seewhy about it. but his profile is not up.......anyone know him ?
