I recently acquired an LCD from a friend, he was moving so he sold it to me. It is a 17inch (I think?) LCD, runs at 1280x1024.
Regardless, it happens to almost exactly mirror the size of my Samsung Syncmaster 997DF, which i also run at 1280x1024.
So, i hooked both monitors up, and after some tweaking in Nview, i was able to get my desktop at 2560x1024, the taskbar only on one screen, applications opening only on one screen, and that good stuff. Different backgrounds, etc.
The main problem now involves gaming. I'm going to stick with the CRT for gaming (as it is my primary display, and has 85hrz resolution). However, any and all games that i had previously had set to run at fullscreen 1280x1024 are refusing to open. I don't have the "1280x1024" option anywhere in any menu screen on the computer (even advanced nvidia settings). I've gotten multiple different errors from things trying to run in this resolution. From "unable to initialize directx" to somethiung like SDL not found. I can't even get 1280x1024 resolution to open in a window.
Also, any game that's fullscreen tries to open across both monitors, is there any way to disable this? I want "fullscreen" games to be monitor specific (primary monitor).
I have the setting enabled for "different resolutions per monitor". This should mean that I'm able too run an old game at 640x480 on my CRT (fullscreen), while also keeping AIM/firefox etc. open on my secondary monitor at 1280x1024.... right?
Edit: Found it, there was my problem. I'm still having a few awkward settings, but all seems to be well. I'll just mess around a bit longer.
