visiontek gf2 ultra agp primary on viewsonic p810
creative labs riva tnt pci secondary on KDS VS190i

the 2nd card and monitor work fine (bios works)

i changed the boot sequence from pci to agp
go into windows
windows detects the 2nd card installs drivers, primary goes black and 2nd goes up and says "if you can see this windows detected..." but there are vertical lines across the screen. the primary monitor stays black, if i do a ctrl alt del there is nothing running (grey window pops up) but i cant do anything, the mouse doesnt work.
reboot and same things happen
OR
go into windows
bypass card installation
finish booting
add card manually
screen goes black and 2nd monitor comes on but the same as above, lines and still black on the primary. if i hit ctrl alt del i can get back to the desktop on the main sort of, but i have no mouse. i can use the keyboard, if i go snoop around there is a red X through the pci card in system properites. but as i look through there are no hardware conflicts and it says the card is working fine. when i reboot i get back into windows fine and go to system properties and there is a ! next to the pci card and says that it could not start it and will not attempt to in the future. i have no idea what to do :( please help!

ive even changed cards around and taken out my modem. my mouse is irq12 and the pci card is on 5 so no problems there.

Well, you could do 1 of 2 things...wipe all video drivers off--unseat both video cards and insert and reinstall drivers for your AGP card...restart....shut down....insert and reinstall drivers for PCI card...restart

OR...change OS. I heard Win98SE gives some problems to multiple video cards and "dual monitor" support is a lilttle funny--I can attest to that under WinMe. Win2k seems to give the most stable "dual monitor" performance out of all Windows OS's.

If this is W98 I had that problem before.

To this day I still don't know how I got it going. But it took a lot of installing and uninstalling of drivers.

Try cleaning your systems of all related drivers. Show the hidden devices in device manager and delete them(video cards)

Go in the registry and find all visiontech an creative labs and delete them.

Then install them in different order(not just boot sequence) or both at once.

Hopefully something is gonn give.

If it is W2k, then I don't know. As I never had any probs with my W2 dual monitors.

PS. I need to learn to type faster.

roger that. installed the newest drivers i could find from creative, the 6.50's. installed them for the pci, but does it for both cards, so they both on 6.50 and wow, it works! but when i reboot i get a dll error :( so i update just the gf2 ultra to the 21.88, reboot, they both are on the 21.88 now  they both seem to be working now. for some reason it decided to work when detected as the Creative Labs card instead of just a generic Nvidia Riva TNT card, go figure. finiky stuff, wonder what going to XP Pro will be like. hopefully will work fine...
this is pretty cool though :) thanks for the responses, just took a lot of installing/uninstalling of drivers.

only annoying thing is that when i go to the right to scroll down i go to the other monitor, wish there was a way to "sticky" on the right for a half second before it went over to the monitor, and i cant get icq to go to the other monitor (wants to stick to the right side of the main), other than that, sweet :)
