Dual-Monitor Gaming Problem

So I have a HP Laptop...and I recently bought a 19" LCD Monitor. I set it up with dual screen - and I use the 19'' as my primary. But when I try to run Frozen Throne, the primary monitor's viewing area (running the game) shifts over to the left.

I tried the laptop as the primary, and everything worked fine.

What's my problem here? I have my LCD on the left and the laptop on the right. And i'm also running Desktop Sidebar and Ultramon and StyleXP if those software are the causes.

Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

Could be as simple as pressing the AUTO button on the LCD when that game kicks in. You may never have configured it for that video mode.

Some games do shift around the dual monitor desktop if you're playing at a different resolution than the desktop resolution. Also, you really should disable the 2nd display when gaming - for one thing it affects performance. I use UltraMon to easily disable the 2nd display with a double click on a taskbar icon: http://www.ultramon.com

hey,

i know this post is from a while back... but i was wondering if you ever resolved the problem. I am getting the same results, but with a single lcd monitor. It primarily happens within a video game - but a game that is running at the exact same resolution/color depth as windows.

I've tried all the standard stuff...
all drivers updated, shut down all uneeded progams, including networking, etc.

My important system specs are as follows:
Aopen Oem laptop
Pentium M @ 2ghz
1gb ram
Mobility radeon 9700 (vga connector)
Hyundai L90d+

I should note, that strangely, if i pull the vga cord mostly out of the laptop the picture sometimes will kick back in, but then will go back to shifting to the right/unstable if i push it back in. It never happens right away and sometimes seems to fix itself... ahh gotta love those intermitent problems.

Also, the only thing that could be causing interference with the monitor is the laptop itself, and I feel almost 100% certain that it is not a power fluctuation issue.

Thanks for anyone who can help.
