Dual Monitor Color Problems

Two weeks back I purchased an ATI 4830 and this week I received my two 2009WA monitors. I set them up dual screen however, the primary monitor has faded colors. It's not apparent to everyone, but it is enough to bother me. Colors on the 2ndary monitor are faded and drowned out.

I've tested swapping the images in my monitors (making the 2nd monitor the primary) and the issue persisted, with my primary monitor having faded colors. The 2ndary monitor in both cases has a flawless bright colorful image.

Anyone else have a similar issue? Is there a setting I am missing in my ATI CCC setup? Or does this sound like there is a glitch in my video card and I should look for an RMA? The color difference is driving me nuts. I know for a fact that it isn't the monitor because when I sawpped them, the issue then transferred to the other monitor.

Erm... I may not be interpreting what you're saying fully... but it sounds like you only did a software switch?

Have you tried physically swapping monitors via the DVI ports/Cables? Have you swapped the cables themselves?

I tried plugging in both monitors to different ports, and swapped the monitors on my desk - it appears its a color uniformity issue in both monitors. The right side of both is a reddish-orangish hue, and is quite annoying. Some people on hard forums had reported this on their 2209WA. Has anyone here seen this problem with their 2209WA's? I'm thinking of sending both back, because it's quite annoying.

In your first post you talked about differences between the two monitors. Now in this reply you're saying the problem is showing on both. I'm confused.

Your first post says when you did your swap, the problem moved monitors. You weren't clear enough about what you tested. If either monitor shows faded colors under some conditions, but doesn't show them when you switch ... whatever you switched ... then it's obviously not the monitors.

You either have something wrong with your video card, or one of your monitor cables has a problem.

No it's the monitors, and its not an issue with one monitor its both...there are color uniformity issues. The left side of both is a crisp and blue tint, the right side is more of a yellow tint. And there is no way to change it. Apologies if my thread has gotten confusing, but my initial thoughts were wrong.

I ordered two 2209WA's. One has this "left = greenish, right = orangish" tint disparity as experienced by a number of people on Hardforums.

So one of the two doesn't have the issue? I'm thinking of sending one of mine back at least.

Yes, only 1 of my 2 monitors has this green/red disparity.

I have debated whether or not to accept this flaw. Even though I am using a TN LCD right now (L227WTG-PF) which exhibits color-shifting to some extent due to limited viewing angles (especially vertically), I personally couldn't look past it. This tinting is always present (at least on light-colored backgrounds) whereas TN color-shifting generally occurs only when you change angles. As a result, I can notice it while doing simple things such as reading a document. Oddly enough, I could probably tolerate it a heck of a lot more if the tint gradient was vertical rather than horizontal.

If I had a lesser TN LCD than I currently do, then I would probably keep this monitor or at least exchange it for another one since it certainly could be a good value; however, the high rate of occurrence of this issue makes me want to avoid the hassle. Nonetheless, good luck to you if you choose to exchange it!

thanks for your feedback chronox - I'm still debating if I should return them and if it's worth the hassle since like you said, it's a pretty frequent issue. People are saying its a friequent issue with LG screens, and this Dell monitor uses LG parts.

I think I may return 1 of the 2 and cross my fingers, and use the one with the disparity as a secondary monitor.

Has anyone else run into the color disparity issues?
