Hello, i am about to buy either a ati radeon 9800 pro or a equal value nvidia card ($200 bucks limit). The main drive for me is I want to have dual display, which both are capable of. The question I am having is the role the S-video out plays in dual display.

I am going to use the dual vga out for 2 monitor displays, but i was wondering if tv out is still available while doing this.

If it is available, does the S-video out line limited by cloning one of the other monitors, or does it get it's own desktop.

The work i am doing is video editing, so i want the dual monitors as workspace and the tv out to be a full screen video preview.

So i guess the question is which card, ati or nvidia, has the most control with tv-out while in dual monitor mode.

Any information about the limitations or features regarding multi-monitors with TV-out of the ATI or NVidia cards in the $200 range would be great, thanks.

ATI s-video will clone primary. Not sure about Nvidia but they seem to do better with dual display. Having OGL acceleration on both displays.

I think they both should do what you want. But NVIDIA has much much more features in the dual monitor area. If you want to span videos across two monitors, then you NEED an NVIDIA card. NVIDIA has many modes for dual monitors, including dual view(only one ati supports), horizontal span(makes your windows think your two monitors is one, which is very useful to span games or videos across two monitors), vertical span, and clone mode.
