Hi,
I have 3 infamous Korean (Qnix/ Crossover) 27' 2K (1440p )monitor which has only Dual Link DVi connection.
I have notice on modern middle or high GPU do not have DVI link any more.
Is there cable which can convert HDMI to DVi Dual link monitor ?
Thanks

HDMI to dual DVI adapters seem to be available and very affordable these days. Read reviews and buy from a return friendly place I would say. Got any pics of your setup? I love a good low budget triple monitors setup...

Back when I would have liked to try this there was nothing affordable out there. Seems you have good timing.

I dont have a pic.
3 Monitor 3 different computer, connected to 3 different GPU.
I am in the cycle of GPU refresh.
I just learn High-end GPU and most of Mid-End GPU do not have DVi connection at all.
I can't seem to find a cable which can do HDMI to DVi with 2560x1440 resolution.
Thanks

Does it have to be HDMI?

Most modern video cards will have at least one DP output.

Why such a expensive cable!
That is the only option ?
Isn't DVi and HDMI are same ? Its just DVi standards doesn't define the Audio ?
DO they not make DVi to HDMI with support of 2560 x 1600

AFAIK, SINGLE-link DVI-D and HDMI can be converted, bi-directionally, with mechanical adapters (minus the audio, in some cases).

But DUAL-link DVI-D, has TWO sets ofTMDS transcievers/transmitters, which divide up the pixel-clock load, almost like SLI. In order to convert between that and HDMI, you would need an ACTIVE adapter. AFAIK.

Unless the DVI-D side can accept or transmit the higher-clocked signal needed to drive the HDMI side, or vice-versa, as a SINGLE-link, but HIGHER-clocked (like HDMI does with their TMDS).

So, unless your Korean monitors can accept a 2560x1440P HDMI-like signal over a SINGLE TDMS link set, on the DVI-D port, and the video drivers on the source device are set up to handle that, it's not going to work with a passive HDMI-DVI-D converter.

This is correct. Even 1920x1200 @ 60hz was pushing the absolute limits of a single TMDS link.

To get what you want you need an active adapter; they aren't just cables - You're actually converting from one display interface to another

Allegedly there is enough bandwidth in single link TMDS to do 2560x1600 @ 35hz:

.

I'm guessing that is not going to work for you.

What kind of GPU performance do you require? I would grab 3 past generation GPUs.. there is some excellent stuff on the used market for not much coin. You're talking 150 in just adapters there.

Yeah an active adapter was the only way it was gonna work.

My Dad (and thus me) had this same problem with 30" Monoprice 2560*1600 monitor from 2013 when I had him buy a RX 5700 w/no DVI thinking it would work with passive cables. Nope.

Nice monitor, but replaced it with a 2K Freesync 2 32" Dell monitor and as long as the HDR is playing nicely it is amazing. Gave me enough monitor envy to buy one for myself.

Just sold the Monoprice with a Dual Link DVI cable for $50 on Facebook, along with a PC with an older GPU with the right outputs.

I wish I had thought to check this before starting my shopping, it would have been a lot easier to find a video card with Dual Link DVI out :p
