I have a weird situation here. I have a device (a Teradici Zero Client) which has a Dual-Link DVI output. I wish to connect a monitor (Dell U2515) and run it at 2560x1440.
Said monitor only has HDMI or Displayport inputs.
I can't seem to find an adapter that goes from dual-link DVI to either Displayport or HDMI. They make them the other way around (displayport or hdmi source to DVI monitor) - but not the way I wish to use it. As far as I know you can't just flip the adapter around.
any ideas?
If you're talking about a DVi-to-HDMI cable of whatever length, I've been able to make them work both ways, without "doing anything special." I can't guarantee anything for your monitor resolution, only because I'm only rocking 1920x1080. But it is possible to connect a DVI port on my graphics card to an HDMI monitor input or even an HDMI switch -- connected to said monitor with HDMI-to-HDMI. I think it also works with the switch connection for HDMI to the DVI port on the display. I only "tried" it briefly, and didn't notice anything "F***y."
The only remaining problem arises for choosing configuration options within an OSD of the display. No problem at the computer end -- with a graphics adapter or even an onboard iGPU and the mobo adapters.
If that doesn't conform roughly to your hardware and needs, I wouldn't know otherwise.
Oh. I forgot. Your monitor is running at 1440p? I'm not sure that has anything to do with it. The only limitation I can think of: any HDMI connection in the equation (and at either end) is limited to a refresh rate of 60 Hz with the current HDMI standards. But I don't think there's any limit per se about the resolution of the display.
Correct me -- or somebody correct me -- if I'm wrong.

There are also adapter plugs. DO you require the analog connection of DVI-I? This all works for DVI-D as far as I can tell.
