Hi, is there any performance difference if you use a Dual Line DVI cable or Display Port on your graphics card connected to a monitor with 2560x1600 resolution? Thanks

Personally I prefer displayport but you can use either DVI-D (it must be dual link! SL is max 1920x1200!)) or Displayport / mini displayport. DP looks "cleaner" and technically has more bandwidth than DVI , although it currently makes no difference

Thanks for the response. I think I'll use the display port too.

Another vote for DisplayPort. It's functionally the same, but the smaller cables are easier to work with, especially since you don't need to screw anything in.

There shouldn't be any difference, although certain features like 10bpp (if your monitor supports it) almost always require DP. Like others have said, DP's advantage of smaller, screwless cable is a winner to me. However if you need to move your PC around I'd use DL-DVI, because DP's hinge makes it a b**** to unplug.

One thing to consider if you are using displayport is that under windows 7 its a little "too" plug-and-play. If your monitor goes to standby, when you wake it again, it -will- mess up any open windows on your desktop.

Otherwise go displayport, the fingerscrews on dvi-cabels can drive anyone up the wall... :)
