Dual LCD question

I can't figure it out.

Right now I have dell 1905fp.

I just ordered the gigabyte x800xl which have DVI + VGA. Originally I was going to buy the MSI x800xl which has dual dvi.

I want to ethir get one huge monitor like the dell 2405fp, or 2 smaller lcds.

I was thinkin mabye the 1905fp and a 2001fp for gaming.
But with the gigabyte card what will it be like using one dvi and one vga?

Also of course the resolution differences. 2001fp has 1600 x 1200, and the 1905fp has 1280 x 1024. How would the resolution difference affect a dual setup?

i'm so confused on what to do. I hope buying the gigbyte wasn't a mistake.

The X800XL should support independent resolutions. They'll work fine.

Hmmm, okay.
I guess my Gigabyte card will be okay.

What would you guys suggest though if I decided to go with DUAL LCDS>

1905fp for photos and web, and what other monitor for gaming???? (I was thinking mabye 2001fp.)

Also, can I used my 1905fp at resolutions larger than its native 1280 x 1024 in games or will that always be max???

the native resolution is also the highest resolution the monitor can use, so you can't set it higher than it's native resolution and have it still work. But you can set each monitors resolution separatly.

Yes the x800 will support dual monitors with different resolutions and even different refresh rates. You will also want to seriously consider using Ultramon: http://www.ultramon.com

Once you go to dualies you'll never go back. If you're a power user with several windows open, you'll appreciate it. It's especially useful if you're a Photoshop user - I work on the image on one monitor and leave the tools on the other monitor.

Dual monitors essentially acts as one continuous desktop. Dual monitors = lots of extra desktop space.

FlyingPenguin.

Yea i do alot of photoshop. Buy does it make any difference wether you use dual 19" or one 24"?

Also will the bottom start bar or whatever u call it be the same size if u have lcds with different resolutions?

i wouldn't go for dual monitor set up.. unless they were identical monitors...
either way... i'd go for a one big lcd with quaility..

Dual monitors is great, though I'd take the 2405fp if that option was in my pricerange. I'm about to buy a second video card so I can move to three monitors. I have 3 19" Flat CRTs with a Trinitron in the middle. It is great for multitasking.

If you can afford the 2405, just put it next to your 1905, they should go together very nicely. The 1905 is not widescreen, and is kinda slow, so it'll be a good secondary monitor for 2D graphics work and as additional screen real estate, and connect it to the vga port if you go for the dvi/vga video card. Use the 2405 as your primary video watching fast game playing panel. Impress your friends with your kickass dualie setup...
