I still dont understand the whole +R/-R thing... but I've always followed some advice from a while back to go for -R because it is supposedly more compatable to stand alone players.

anyway I need to buy dual layer 8.5 gig dvds now and i am noticing all the ones I am finding are +R - any cause for concern?

edit: using for dvd video

Who told you to use -R?

+R with bitsetting = flawless victory.

And no, no cause for concern.

+1. Accept no substitutes; wait for a sale if you have to. I got 25 for CDN$35.

That would still eb an awesome price- just paid 38 USD for 20

Taiyo Yuden makes it's own DVDs, they surpass even Verbatim dyes in quality. Yes, I buy straight Taiyo Yuden branded DVDs :)

Also, they TY does sell its dyes to other manufacturers

Some backward standlone DvD players only support -R.
All of my stuff is dual format but I have 1 or 2 friends who have something that only reads -Rs. I refuse to buy -R disks.

as far as i can tell one difference is that DVD+R's format themselves when u eject them while u have to choose to format the DVD-R's thru the menu's not sure if theres a quality difference but thats whatThis site is for
