are we there yet?

I haven't been following this technology so enlighten me. I don't want to make the same mistakes we all did when CD-R's came out. This time around, I'm gonna wait until everything is in place. so...

are we there yet?

I am not sure, but I gather you are asking if dual-layer DVD burners, etc are available... If you are in fact asking that, then the answer is no, not yet. I imagine software will not be a problem. Supposedly some should start shipping by the end of the second quarter this year. Also, Google is an excellent resource.

EeyoreX is correct. There are no DL burners on the market yet. From what I gather, the first DL burners will only be + drives, with the - drives still in limbo.

Any kind of DL burner seems to be just a few weeks away, but with problems with the media, you never know. Seems as if some companies are having a hard time churning out reliable DL media. And with the DL discs initially costing around $5-$6 apiece, it almost seems silly to spring all the extra money unless absolutely needed.

If you're waiting for everything to get into "place", you're in for a long wait my friend.
