Dual-Layer DVD±RW via firmware flash?

I have a Lite-On LDW-451S DVD±RW drive (4x), and I heard some scuttlebutt via a co-worker today who after a trip to PC Club said the guy there told him you can get a firmware update for certain Lite-On drives that has a 95% reliability of making them able to write dual-layer discs.

I was wondering: does anyone know of a firmware for the LDW-451S that will make it burn dual-layer?

Just curious...

just like some locked posts below, this does not belong on this forum. try cdrinfo or google for such information, you'd get faster results.

anyway... i have heard of no such rumor. the only thing i have heard of is with the NEC burners. and liteon drives are not nec drives.

451S can't be upgraded to that.

Only drives I know of that can upgrade to DL from SL only are: LDW 812S, NEC 2500A, and BenQ822.
