Dual LAN?

1) Use it is a router
2) Redundant Network connections (psuedo RAID 1 for network cards)
3) Connect to two networks at the same time

If both go to the same network i.e. a LAN party, would it provide double the network bandwidth? Theoreticly?

In the rare cases that you might need two NICs it saves you the $5 cost of PCI NIC.

Otherwise, for most people it creates a Psychological problem causing an obbession to find a way to use it and Not being able to let go.😉

I have found out that you for sure want to disable netbios broadcast on one of the nics. Otherwise, they argue back and forth over who really has the said netbios name.

As for getting twice the bandwidth, Intel has a tool that lets you set up "teaming" which is supposed to give you twice the bandwidth from two nics. Other than that, I'm don't know if it can be done.
