Dual-Head Linux! (Almost, and Kernel 2.4 too)

I downloaded and compiled kernel 2.4.0test4 today so that I could really try dual-head with XFree86 4.0 (i810 involved). Anyway, it appears that both video adapters try to initialize/warm boot, as the monitors both wakeup. But nothing ever shows. 🙁 I'll have to post my XF86Config for your perusal.

But, the thought occurred to me: Could my window manager play a role in preventing multiple displays? In this case, I am using Enlightenment (shipped with Mandrake 7.1) by itself (not over gnome or anything else). Could it be that Enlightenment doesn't support more than one display? If so, what windows manager does?

And what's the word on the final 2.4 kernel? I've bene out of the Linux loop for a while.
