Dual head CrossfireX vs. Single?

Hi, I have a friend that recently bought a secong XFX Radeon 5770 to run in Crossfire. One has a single connector and came with a single ribbon cable, while the new one has dual heads, and came with a double ribbon cable. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not. Why do you think they would make the cards different? Will it make a significant performance difference if he can't use the double ribbon?

I'm gonna take a punt here and say it's because 1 card is only designed for 2 card crossfire and only has one connector and the other has 2 crossfire connections so it can be used in tri/quad crossfire. That's if I'm understanding you correctly. If that's the case it should be fine, AFAIK.

Anyone else know for certain?
