Hello,

I have an A10-5800K system I put together recently for HTPC / light gaming duties. It works great at 720P but I'm looking at possibly adding a 6670 video card to work with the A10 in dual graphics mode to help smooth out games at the 1080P resolution.

My Googling is not helping with this question as I keep getting mixed answers and was hoping someone here could clarify for the following:

Do I really need GDDR5 over DDR3 for the 6670 card? I'm currently running my system RAM at 2133Mhz.

Some people are saying it does not matter and pick DDR3 as your system RAM dictates the speed (lowest common denominator) while others' are saying go with the GDDR5 version because when in dual graphics mode only the frame buffer from videocard is used.

So which is the right answer here?

Dedicated RAM for a video card operates completely independent of the main system RAM, even if being used for an IGP. All other things being equal, I'd get the video card with the fastest RAM you can.
